Samsung Galaxy Core Prime under Verizon finally receives the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update following AT&T and T-Mobile's release. Galaxy Core Prime should now be waiting for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but will it come this year?
According to news reports, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime will be receiving in December 2015 the latest software version of Android as it begins receiving the final Lollipop update beginning yesterday. The update shall end two weeks from now.
Comes in new build LMY48B.G360VVRU3BOH3, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes via over-the-air (OTA) update using Wi-Fi connection. If prompted for the download, make sure the battery if charged up to at least 50% and storage has enough memory space. To manually check the update, go to Settings > About phone > Software update > Check for update.
As per new PDF file released by Verizon on its support page, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will bring in the following new features and enhancements:
1. Material Design. Android Lollipop brings the all-new Material Design offering fluid animations, vivid color themes and 3D views for more pleasurable user interaction. A Floating Action Button (FAB) has been added for ease of access on emphasized features.
2. Lock Screen. The shortcuts for both Phone and Camera are provided for convenience.
3. Material Design-inspired notifications have been introduced.
4. The ability to set priority and privacy for notifications on the lock screen has been enabled.
5. Provided music control as a card to utilize the real estate of the lock screen UI.
6. Android security patches.
Meanwhile, Galaxy Core Prime is only one of the many phones of Samsung to get the update, including older models, flagship models, and mid-range units. The list includes Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Grand Prime, Galaxy J1, Galaxy Mega 2, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, and Galaxy Tab 10.1, among others.
