Last Tuesday, Google announced its latest Google Play Music All Access Family Plan, priced at $14.99 per month. This plan is limited to six users, where each will receive an individual ID.
Since the music streaming space has more competition than ever, Google has realized there is a key feature missing in its service and that is the family plan which both Apple Music and Spotify offer. According to the company, the Google Play Music All Access Family Plan provides access up to six individual members for $14.99 a month. The plan will be available later this year, and its single user subscription still remains at $9.99, NDTV Gadgets reported.
If the subscription price looked familiar, that is because Apple Music's family plan is priced at $14.99 as well. On the other hand, Spotify's family plan ranges between $14.99 and $29.99, depending on the quantity of users. If a user purchases the $14.99 tier, this will allow up to two accounts.
Pocket-lint stated that Apple Music's family plan costs the same as Google's plan, while Spotify's family plan costs $29.99 per month for five accounts. With that in mind, it appears that Apple Music and Google Play Music look like more practical and thrifty streaming choices for users with big families.
According to Business Insider, the Google Play Music All Access Family Plan will give up to six members an individual account and will be allowed to access unlimited streaming. It certainly means that family members won't be able to disturb each other's experience using the music service.
The report also said that Google's family plan serves as another sign that Google is placing more resources into its music streaming service to maintain its competition with other music apps such as Apple and Spotify. A few days before Apple has officially launched its Apple Music, Google has announced a free tier for its own music service as well.
