HTC is confirmed to be rolling out the up-and-coming Android 6.0 Marshmallow to many of its devices as an executive revealed earlier the tech titan's intent of upgrading its phones. Aside from HTC's future release, One A9, the Marshmallow software is confirmed coming to four of its devices.
Flagship smartphones One M9+, One M9, One M8, and One M7 have been confirmed by HTC US President Jason McKenzie to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Although there has been no official release date for the upgrade, McKenzie underscored it is coming very soon.
In August, HTC Senior Vice President for Product Management already revealed that the update will come to One M8 alongside much-awaited Sense 7.0.
However, the announced phones are still subject to carrier support and approval. The list is initial as of the moment as the company might be releasing the update to other devices as well.
A tech site revealed that the Taiwanese brand is also working on its native software for improvements on internal specs and support for camera. HTC is reported to be working out its native features including the user interface and controls.
Here's Android 6.0 Marshmallow's fresh new features and enhancements:
- Doze Mode. This new feature screens phone and puts into a deep sleep when unused to prolong battery life.
- Now on Tap. Google Now get better function. Press holding the home button will show up Google Now and exhibits information based on current status or activity.
- Android Pay. By just a simple tap, bring up Android Pay and make purchases without the need to launch another app.
- Direct share. Share photos, links, news, files, etc. with selected contacts with ease and quickness.
- Simpler volume controls. Control ringtone and media volume spontaneously.
On another note, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is confirmed to debut tomorrow on LG-made Nexus 5X and Huawei-made Nexus 6P. It is expected to come to selected devices shortly after its debut.
