Slated to debut come October 5, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is confirmed to come out of the box in Google's new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P devices. The official over-the-air (OTA) update is reported to be released on select smartphones, including Motorola's third generation of Moto G (2015).
Although Motorola Moto G (2015) has just been updated to Android Lollipop's final version, reports from tech sites are firm that the device is bound for a Marshmallow upgrade soon. There have no official word from the Lenovo-ran smartphone manufacturer as to dates but according to unofficial reports it will get the update as soon as December this year.
With Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the second generation of Moto G will receive best new features and improvements like the new battery manager called Doze, Google Now on Tap, new app permission, better "copy, cut, paste" method, and app backup and restore, among others.
Doze is one of Android's newest additions. Amid the battery drain issues with brought by Lollipop updates, Google promises an innovation of battery life saving feature using a powerhouse combination of hardware sensors and software changes. With Doze, it will automatically terminate idle apps and apps running in the background. Other than that, it will also help manage battery-consuming apps and features not in use.
Originally an idea of Apple's iOS, app permission also brings a new function. With Marshmallow, users can now choose which permissions each individual app gets. However, be warned because killing an app permission as early as the update debuts might get users into trouble. App developers have to make sure that their apps are updated once in a while to ensure a functional app.
Google Now on Tap is the new improvement. It was modified from Google Now. Deemed one best feature of Android, this feature supplements data or information from third-party apps to a pool of data while Google Now will filter it. This operates by launching an app and simultaneously press holding the home button until Google Now on Tap pops up with its analysis. This feature gives owners information about nearby restaurants, upcoming events, maps, time, sorts of reviews, and a lot more.
Marshmallow also makes it easy when users want to switch to another phone. Data from the old phone can be transferred without breaking a sweat. With a Wi-Fi connection, the device will automatically back up data, files, and settings using Google Drive and without the owner being informed for convenience.
Cut, copy and paste options make its functions more convenient. Use these controls on selected texts, and photos.
Meanwhile, custom ROM developer TeamJB has released last week after successfully created a support for Android 6.0 to LG G3.
