Moto G users will finally receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in a couple of weeks after Google launched the new line of Nexus devices. However, only the 2015 and the 2015 models of the Moto G will be receiving the update. Users of the original 2013 model will have to opt for the newer models.
Motorola launched the first model of the phone two years ago and has been a fan favourite ever since. It even became the top selling smartphone in Mexico and Brazil, according to Gazette Review.
The smartphone manufacturer launched the second generation of the Moto G in 2014 and it also became one of the best budget smartphones for the year.
One of the phone's defining characteristics is its excellent performance with the Android 5 Lollipop update. Even some of the high-end flagship phones from Samsung and LG failed to perform well with the bugs and glitches.
In addition to its seamless integration with Android Lollipop, the Moto G also had specs that was worth the price. The second generation had an improved camera, a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor from Qualcomm. It also had a microSD card slot and is water resistant for up to a meter.
Google recently launched the new line of Nexus devices with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Motorola is aiming to follow suit with the upgrade in November for the 2015 variants, according to Neurogadgets.
Moto G 2014 models will receive the update possibly in December. The update is just timely considering that it is the most updated version. Unlike other phones that are just receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop just now, the Motorola phone users will be able to enjoy the new update.
Motorola will also roll out the update for its Nexus 6 phone. In addition, there will also be other Motorola phones that will receive the update in a few weeks, according to GSM Arena.
The phones that will receive the update include the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition, 2015 Moto X Style, 2015 Moto X Play, 2015 Moto G, 2014 Moto X Pure Edition, 2014 Moto X in Asia, Europe and Latin America, 2014 Moto G and the 4G LTE models, Droid Turbo, the 2014 Moto Turbo and the 2014 Moto MAXX.
Motorola certainly keeps its phones updated. The Moto G phones will be able to update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow before the year ends.
