Thor is returning to Asgard in Thor: Ragnarok and might see the advent of three of its gods from the comics. A new director for the film might officially be on board soon while Tom Hiddleston says he wants to improve his character.
Kevin Feige revealed previously that Thor will not be among the Marvel heroes to be included in Captain America: Civil War since the upcoming Thor film will serve as a spin-off to Avengers: Age of Ultron .
"This is a very important movie for us in Phase 3. We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron and impacts everything that comes after." Feige said.
In the film, Thor will return to Asgard in order to face the Norse Apocalypse, which according to Movie Pilot, could lead to the entry of three of the gods from the comics namely Tyr, Fenris, and Jormungand. In the comics, Tyr was presented as the God of War while Fenris and Jormungand were presented as gods and 2 of Loki's children. All three of them were reported to have played vital roles in the Apocalypse and are possible to appear in the film.
Meanwhile as reported by Den of Geek, the film might have found its director as Taika Waititi is reportedly in talks to helm the film. The 'What We Did In The Shadows' director is currently in negotiations to direct and is the top choice in the shortlist of directors considered for the film which also included 'Gulliver's Travel' director Rob Letterman, 'Dodgeball' director Rawson Marshall Thurber, and 'Zombieland' helmsman Ruben Fleischer.
Chris Hemsworth is set to return as Thor along with Tom Hiddleston who will also reprise his role as Loki, and as cited in previous report, Hiddleston also expressed his willingness to change and better his character. "I would try not to repeat myself", Hiddleston said. "I would try to do something new. I never want to feel like I'm retreading the same steps,' he said. I guess it's like any actor who plays a character over and over again. I wonder what it's like for the guys who play the Avengers!"
If Waititi jumps on board to direct Thor: Ragnarok, he will be the newest director in the franchise with the previous films directed by Kenneth Branagh and Alan Taylor. Kevin Feige is set to produce the film which is set to hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
