Captain Marvel is currently in the works and still has a couple of years more before it hits theaters. But casting rumors have been revolving around the net with several names such as of Ronda Rousey's linked to the titular role. Although, he admitted that casting is not part of their plan for the film yet, Kevin Feige recently revealed that they are keeping their eyes and ears open for people's casting ideas.
Captain Marvel casting has been a considerably hot topic for Marvel fans with several names linked to the film such as Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, and Beyonce. Also as reported by IGN, Ronda Rousey has also been speculated to be in the running for the role after she revealed during a Reddit AMA that she's interested in it. Moreover, she also posted a fan art of her as Captain Marvel in her Instagram account.
While Feige didn't reveal whether they consider Rousey for the role, he said he enjoyed the fan's campaign. "I love it. That happens occasionally, and I think that's a testament more to the strength of the characters", he said as cited by Entertainment Weekly.
"You look at the ways we've cast our films in the past and it's always about who's the best person to inhabit the character...For us, it's sitting down with people and starting to meet people and as the script takes shape and as we start to build who the character should be and finding the right person to match it up", Feige continued.
However, Feige also revealed that casting is not on their plans yet for the film. According to a report by MTV, Feige said that they currently working on who Carol Danvers will be and her part in MCU's phase 3. Thus, casting will not be made this year.
But the producer also assured fans that they are being heard by as they read reports and comments about the film. No actors and director have been officially attached to the film yet, but Captain Marvel is currently being written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman. It is set to hit cinemas on November 02, 2018.
