‘NCIS’ Season 13 To Tackle Current Issues; New Romantic Angles To Be Explored

By

NCIS fans have a great season to look forward to as the long-running crime procedural launches the new bunch of episodes this fall. Not only that the veteran series will delve on the present day issues of the military, viewers will also witness their favorite characters exploring the walls of romantic relationships.

As previewed by executive producer Gary Glasberg in a report from Entertainment Weekly, the trajectory of NCIS season 13 will be all about the current issues related to the military, their families and all in all the safety of the Americans. “We’re starting to discuss a storyline for NCIS that has to do with harassment on submarines. Now that female navy officers are allowed on submarines we have a storyline that involves that. We love to tackle the issues as best we can,” Glasberg revealed.

On a different angle, the CBS drama also promises to give way for the characters’ romantic relationships as they navigate their professional lives.

Glasberg shared with The Hollywood Reporter that Emily Wickersham’s Bishop and her marriage will be one of the significant arcs that’s on tap this year. To this end, it’s going to be a rough season for Bishop as viewers will find her struggling to balance her work and status as a married woman.

“That will continue to arc out and really take her on a a bit of a journey, and she's been doing a beautiful job, and we're excited about where that's headed,” the showrunner said.
DiNozzo’s love life, moreover, will be something that the series will continue to explore further. “There might be some surprises for people a little further down the road into the season on that one, especially for our diehard fans,” the EP added.

Speaking of relationships, an upcoming episode of NCIS will feature a storyline involving a married couple. According to the episode description shared by The Futon Critic, the one-hour episode will find Bishop and McGee in an undercover assignment “to run surveillance on a Marine Lieutenant and his wife”. As to whether the duo doesn’t blow their cover as a married couple -- is still a mystery for now.

With the interesting plotline and romance on the horizon for the series' 13th run, the showrunners are expecting higher ratings and positive reviews. NCIS Season 13 premieres Tuesday at 8PM ET on CBS.
