NBC's 'Blindspot': Is Martin Gero’s New Mystery-Thriller Starring Jamie Alexander Worth the Second Look?

By

Freshman drama, "Blindspot", is the latest TV offering of Martin Gero written as a mystery-thriller wrapped around a crime procedural format. Now on its third week, the series has been receiving positive remarks with regards to its premise and casting. This counts as a strong indication that viewers have enjoyed the delivery of the events and character introduction right off the bat.

"Blindspot" stars Jamie Alexander – the portrayer of a memory-less Jane Doe who finds herself naked inside a bag at NYC Time Square. The character's body is also inked with mysterious tattoos -- an arc which ripples into a more interesting storyline.

“The central premise of the series also has a great deal of potential. The idea of taking a person and wiping their memory clean provokes a lot of questions,” Pop Matters wrote. The site also addressed the moral compass of the series which was – “if people do bad things they don’t remember, are they still bad?” the site continued.

Deadline also applauded the series for casting Jamie Alexander for the bizarre role. “What is truly intriguing here is how Alexander pushes past her informative physique and successfully creates a character in stages out of almost nothing,” the site commented.

As thought-invoking as it is, fans of the Greg Berlanti-produced drama should be extra-inquisitive as they tune-in on the succeeding episodes. Entertainment Weekly has learned that each episode title is hiding a clue. These hints can be a key in order to unlock Blindspot’s bigger piece of the puzzle.

“The show is about puzzles and games, and people playing with each other, so we’ve tried to hide some hidden messages in there that are more like Easter eggs than major hints to what the show is about,” creator and executive producer Martin Gero teased.

Blindspot, a new scripted series which hails from Martin Gero, offered a fresh and intriguing trajectory on its first couple of episodes. Critics think that the premise and casting are the strong key elements which made the Jamie Alexander-starrer a drama that’s worth-watching.

“Blindspot” airs every Monday at 10PM on NBC.
