LG confirmed rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to all G4 smartphones. Although there has been no official date for the release yet, a mobile carrier in the US has revealed through a track list that LG is indeed coming near to the biggest Android update in history.
LG G4 is now all set for the official over-the-air (OTA) update of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. T-Mobile, one of the biggest mobile carriers in the US in terms of consumer population, has posted on its support page a list of lucky devices to receive the update. LG's 2015 flagship smartphone G4 is fortunately included on the list.
However, the list revealed by the carrier is designed to track the release of the update to its G4 devices. This means that the update depends on the carrier and region. On top of that, exact release date has not yet been confirmed.
According to previous reports, G4 is slated to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in December or possibly earlier. Aside from G4, other LG handsets will also receive the Marshmallow update including its predecessors G3 and G2, as well as G Stylo. Most G3 and G2 devices currently run on Android 5.1 Lollipop, while G Stylo has just been updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Meanwhile, Android 6.0 Marshmallow was announced to debut on Google's own devices LG-made Nexus 5X and Huawei-made Nexus 6P, as well as Android One phones.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring the following features and enhancements:
- Doze Mode. This new feature screens phone and puts into a deep sleep when unused to prolong battery life.
