Google rolls out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Nexus phones and player on October 5

Google has started to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow among Nexus users on October 5. It was on that same day when the factory images of the new software version were released on various Nexus phones and player. The factor images require users to flash the device and perform some procedures if users wish to update it manually. Users can also wait for over-the-air messages to automatically update to the new OS.

NDTV listed the Nexus devices which are subjected for new OS update and it include Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9 Wi-Fi, Nexus 9 Cellular, Nexus 7 (2013) Wi-Fi, Nexus 7 (2013) Cellular, and Nexus Player. The report also cited 13 step-by-step procedures on how to manually perform the update. Along with the steps is the specific model that users have to choose to be able to download the right factory image on the device. The report also inserted a link on its page for tutorial in installing the new OS.

Related report said that Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will come out carrying the new Android software version. On the other hand, Greenbot mentioned that other smartphone companies such as Samsung, LG, and other well-known phone companies will have to wait for weeks or months for the update to come in its devices.

More so, Official Android noted the improvements and interesting features that Android Marshmallow can bring to Nexus devices and other Android devices. The features are Now On Top, longer and more efficient battery life, apps permission to give more options for privacy, fingerprint scan which is useful for mobile pay, and easy access and transfer of files from one device to another.

Google intends to provide better features for Android devices through Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Nexus users can install the new OS through factory images and OTA. At the moment, Google has no announcement yet on when it will roll out Marshmallow on other Android devices.
