The question regarding who would take the mask in Marvel's upcoming "Spider Man" reboot has since been answered, and that's in the person of Tom Holland, who will be playing a teenage Peter Parker. But apart from Holland, there are also speculations that Miles Morales would most likely appear in the said film. On the other hand, director Jon Watts admitted that the comic books inspire him to take on the helming job.
According to Comic Book, the chances of having two web slingers in the next "Spider-Man" movie are high. The publication is basically referring to Miles Morales, the guy who debuted in the Marvel Ultimate Universe after Peter Parker was killed in another universe. Since then, it has always been a question of whether the counterpart will show up or not.
Speaking with Yahoo!, director Jon Watts expressed his thoughts about Miles appearing in the upcoming reboot. Watts didn't clearly deny it and said: "I can't talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much." When asked about the story itself, he replied: "We're still writing the story. We haven't finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows."
That's surely anything but a confirmation or a denial in one or way another. As of this writing, Watts and Marvel haven't been upfront with the new details about the film, although the director might just be keeping things under the wrap. Nevertheless, based on his words, fans believe in the possibility of Miles making it into the big screen in some fashion.
Meanwhile, a lot of people were reportedly concerned about whether or not director Jon Watts is the man apt for the job. However, according to We Got This Covered, Watts has been reading the comic books as his source for inspiration, so as to put those minds at ease. This is what the director had to say about his take on the iconic Marvel superhero:
"Oh, I love that. Ultimate is great," he said. "We have the freedom to pull from anything, but I really like what [Brian Michael] Bendis did." He also talked about having "Peter Parker back in high school" and "his high school problems as it did with his superhero problems."
The untitled "Spider-Man" reboot is set for release on July 28, 2017. And whether or not people will get to see Miles Morales, all hopes are for director Jon Watts to get the right inspiration.
