Although it is yet to be given the go signal, claims are rampant that Warner Bros is planning for Man of Steel 2. However, despite rumors of George Miller being on top of the list of potential directors for the sequel, the director clarified recently that he does not plan to sit in the director's chair.
With the success of Mad Max: Fury Road, recent speculations suggest that Warner Bros is eyeing on Miller to direct the upcoming sequel of the 2013 Zack Snyder flick. However, as reported by Comic Book Movie, although he finds the idea tempting and has talked to the studio about it, Miller said that he does not want to direct the sequel.
"I'll basically say no. Sorry again, not trying to be coy about it. You have so many things lined up. You just don't know which one's going to break [...] the next film I want to do won't be a Mad Max film. It'll be a small film. I just want to get away from big action films for a while. But I just can't help myself. I like to do things which are technically not challenging but technically interesting", Miller said.
No release date has been slated for the film yet, and according to IGN, the sequel does not seem to be a high priority for the studio since Zack Snyder recently revealed that the upcoming Batman v Superman is essentially Man of Steel 2.
Screenrant also reported that Henry Cavill's Superman will also be in the big screen for the next few years with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice scheduled to hit theaters next year, and in the upcoming Justice League films.
The first film was released in 2013 and grossed more than $600 million according to Box Office Mojo. There's not much about the forthcoming Man of Steel 2 and is presently scarce of solid information, but more details are expected to be revealed as soon as it gets green light from Warner Bros.
