After more than a decade, The Incredibles 2 is finally underway and it was confirmed to be released next year. Although plot details are currently unknown, it is widely speculated that Jack Jack, Edna Mode, and Frozone could be the focus of the sequel.
After the long wait, Movie News Guide reports that the sequel has been confirmed to be released some time next year. However, the trade also noted that with the lack of official details about the plot and cast, a 2016 release date currently sound like a relatively too early date which might cause the making of the film to be rushed.
Meanwhile, plot speculations currently revolving around the film suggest that Jack Jack, Edna Mode, and Frozone could get bigger screen time. According to Australia Network News, Edna Mode and Frozone are two of the super family's friends.
Edna Mode created the suits for each member of the family, while Frozone fought with the family and helped them several times. All three of the abovementioned characters were fan favorites who had short time in front of the screen, and the sequel could mean more focus on their characters.
According to a report by Ecumenical News, Brad Bird also previously that one of the reasons for the sequel's delay is because he has a lot of ideas for the sequel that he wants to incorporate in the film. "I wanted to come up with sort of an over-arching idea that connected to the first film that went somewhere different", Bird said. "That's the one that took a little more time.", he added.
The Incredibles 2 is directed and written by Brad Bird and IMDb recently listed the release date for the film in November 16, 2016.
