By

It is confirmed that Google Nexus 6 is to receive the official over-the-air (OTA) update of Android 6.0 Marshmallow following T-Mobile's release of a list outlining handset devices to get it. The biggest Android upgrade in history will offer users a bunch of new features and improvements.

Google Nexus 6 on T-Mobile is now confirmed to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update after the mobile carrier has contracted to support the latest software update with the device manufacturer. Currently at the "Testing" stage, the device will go through T-Mobile certification process testing to make sure users get the best quality software.

This news is not only for T-Mobile users as it also means that Marshmallow is coming to units on other networks like Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, US Cellular, Bell and Vodafone.

T-Mobile has posted on its support page for software updates an outline of which of its devices and device manufacturers have forwarded software update to them for testing. Aside from Google, device manufacturers who come up to terms with the carrier are Samsung, HTC and LG.

However, exact rollout date of the upgrade to the device remains unveiled as T-Mobile has not spoken about to it. The previously reported October release falls to be an unverified information, but tech analysts and Android fans both believe Marshmallow will not come to the device later than December 2015.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will offer best-ever features and enhancements, as follows:

  • Doze Mode. This new feature screens phone and puts into a deep sleep when unused to prolong battery life.
  • Now on Tap. Google Now gets better function. Press holding the home button will show up Google Now and exhibits information based on current status or activity.
  • Android Pay. By just a simple tap, bring up Android Pay and make purchases without the need to launch another app.
  • Direct share. Share photos, links, news, files, etc. with selected contacts with ease and quickness.
  • Simpler volume controls. Control ringtone and media volume spontaneously.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is currently rolling out to Google Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 5 and Nexus 9 devices.
