Google has released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update and as preparation for the newest operating system, Verizon Wireless has launched the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop over-the-air update for LG G3. Soon, the pioneer flagship of LG is expected to obtain the newest operating system.
According to Yibada, Verizon's LG G3 has started receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. The update is 353 MB in size, with an Android build of LMY47V and software version of VS98535B. With these, it is recommended to have a full battery before starting the download and installation process.
In addition, if LG G3 handlers have not seen the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update show up on their handset yet, there is no need to worry. This update seems to be live for most of the users, and should show up pretty soon. LG G3 users can check for the Android Lollipop update manually though by going to the settings menu>About phone>Software updates>Check for updates.
Tech Times further added that Lollipop 5.1.1 will bring enhancement and bug fix to the handset. One of which is the much-needed fix for Stagefright 1.0, but then it was not yet confirmed if it also includes the patch for the second version of the bug. It will also likely provide some more tweaks to Google's Material Design, improved RAM management and other bug fixes and improvements to performance and stability issues.
Moreover, it was confirmed that LG will release Android 6.0 Marshmallow to G3. The three variants of LG G3 such as F400S, F400K and F400L are confirmed to receive the newest operating system by Google.
Furthermore, the LG G2 and the LG G Flex 2 were not lucky enough as these devices were not indicated to receive the firmware update. However, the recently unveiled LG V10 that comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is more likely to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update soon.
With these assurance made by LG and Verizon Wireless, users of LG G3 will be pleased. Meanwhile, the said device is said to receive Android 5.1.1 Lollipop through over-the-air (OTA) update.
