As Google released its newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, many smartphone manufacturers are currently upgrading their pioneer models into Android Lollipop 5.1 as preparation. One of the lucky handset to receive the Lollipop 5.1 is the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime under Verizon Wireless.
According to Softpedia, Galaxy Core Prime is a mid-range Android smartphone that was launched back in November. This handset was released with Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system as it came out of the box and is expected to receive the Android Lollipop 5.1 upgrade.
There were a lot of Galaxy Core Prime units that have already been upgraded to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and higher, but then some carriers are still testing the upgrade in their own labs.
Recently, Neurogadget confirmed that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is already available for Galaxy Core Prime smartphones which are connected to the Verizon carrier. In addition, it also cited that this update was already available for the T-Mobile and AT&T carriers.
Android Geeks cited some of the improvements that Android 5.1.1 will bring to the Core Prime. One of which is the new Material Design animations and theme together with an improved TouchWiz user interface. The Lock Screen in Lollipop 5.1. has also been greatly developed and enhanced so that users will get better functionality out of their device without even unlocking it.
Furthermore, Verizon has stated that the new firmware version of Android 5.1.1 comes with the StageFright security patch and tons of other additional small changes that would offer users one of the best Android experiences that has ever seen on a smartphone. The update is rolled out over-the-air and not through Samsung KIES, which means that handlers of this handset should constantly look for new firmware files download availability by going to Settings> About Phone > System Updates menu.
As the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version rolled out with the Galaxy Core Prime, many users will be expecting that Android Marshmallow will also rolled out for this model. But then, handlers of this device might wait a little longer as update will be on a gradual process.
