Boxing fans are eagerly waiting for the most-anticipated rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. The Filipino boxer has recently hinted that he wants to have another fight. But as per recent reports and statements from Bob Arum who is Manny Pacquiao's promoter, there are no negotiations about the said rematch.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is remembered to have defeated Manny Pacquiao during their May 2, 2015 fight in Las Vegas. The former also announced his retirement after the September 12 fight against Andre Berto by which he was declared as a victor. Manny Pacquiao recently dropped hints that they are negotiating about the rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. or a fight against Amir Khan during his trip in Doha, Qatar, Yahoo! Sports shared.
Moreover, Manny Pacquiao is looking at another fight before the national elections in the Philippines where he is a current member of the Philippine Congress. In this light, it is not yet sure whom he will be fighting against and hints about the rematch is something unclear as of the moment.
Manny Pacquiao has expressed his will to retire from boxing to further concentrate on politics. For the past 20 years in his boxing career, he thinks that this is already the time to consider something else, Business Insider cited.
In a recent interview done by TMZ, Bob Arum has clarified that there is no ongoing negotiations between their camp and Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s. The Top Rank head had expressed that there are no discussions about the rematch and he does not think that it is likely to happen. Bob Arum also exclaimed that he really thinks that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is retired for good.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao's rematch seems not to happen anytime soon. Both world-renowned boxers have gone through different paths and are considering retiring from boxing permanently to concentrate on different careers that they want to take.
