Though the anticipated closed beta had an entire ecosystem of hype surrounding it, the least can be said for how things turned out in the beginning.

The focus of the beta was mainly on matchmaking and planning, and after a few days, the improvements needed to create a much better game have come about especially for those who look to pre-order the game.
Twinfinite wrote that Ubisoft provided players with their own closed beta keys enabling them to experience the game first hand until last October 4 which was the last extension of the closed beta event. Ubisoft themselves admitted that some touch ups were needed to ensure that the game functions properly as a whole.
