Samsung Galaxy Grand On To Be Announced October 14th? Press Invites Already Sent

By

Samsung has a new phone on the way. The Galaxy Grand On was spotted in the TEENA website with the model number SM-G5500. In addition, the company has called for a press event on Wednesday.

The new phone targets budget-conscious consumers as the specs are quite on the low-end. Benchmarks results have been spotted last month.

For the display, the Samsung Galaxy Grand On will sport a 5.1-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720. Together, the resolution and the size make for a rather low pixel density of 287 ppi. Instead of the AMOLED screen most Samsung phones have, it will only be powered by a TFT screen.

The processor is also on the low side of the spectrum. Powering the new phone is a measly 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos chip, according to Ubergizmo. Fortunately, it will still have 1GB RAM unlike most dual-core phones that have 512MB.

Moreover, the cameras are quite decent considering that they are from Samsung. The Galaxy Grand On is expected to feature a 5MP front snapper and an 8MP rear camera. Most users could be satisfied with the mid-range cameras.

Storage-wise, the phone falls short on expectations. It will only have 8GB for the internal storage. Users can still use a microSD to expand the storage up to 128GB, according to Android Community.

Another disappointment would be the OS version. The Samsung Galaxy Grand On will run Android 5.1 Lollipop by default. Hopefully, the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will be used instead.

There have been numerous rumors about other upcoming models from Samsung. Some of them are the Galaxy S7, Galaxy O5, Galaxy O7 and the new Galaxy Mega On.

Another rumored phone is the more powerful Samsung Galaxy A9. It is also expected to run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. However, it has a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 SoC coupled wht 3GB RAM, according to NDTV.

Samsung has yet to officially announce the Galaxy Grand On. However, the South Korean tech giant has already sent press invites for an event in India on October 14. Will the new phone finally be unveiled?
