Soda lovers will love PepsiCo's new product, an Android smartphone. That's right, the famous snack and beverage maker is coming up with its own smartphone dubbed as the Pepsi P1.

PepsiCo is planning to launch its own brand of smartphone in China. It isn't high-end but the specs are quite decent.

The Pepsi P1 is expected to be powered by a mid-range 1.7GHz quad-core MT6592 processor coupled with 2GB RAM, according to Phandroid. With a decent CPU and ample RAM, the phone will jump straight to them mid-range market.

Additionally, the phone will have 16GB for its built-in storage. It could also have support for expandable storage via microSD cards.

In terms of its screen size, it will sport a 5.5-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080 or Full HD. At the least, it could have a pixel density of 400 ppi which is not bad for an entry level phone.

Selfie snappers would have to be contented with its 5MP front camera. On the back, it has a 13 MP rear camera. It is unknown if the sensor would be from Sony or just a generic one.

Out of the box, the Pepsi P1 will run Android 5.1 Lollipop. There is no news yet on whether it will have an update for the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which has been recently launched along with the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P.

As if those were not enough to sell the phone, it will also come with a large 3,000mAh battery for a longer use time. Leaks have stated that the phone will cost only about $201, accoding to MobiPicker. Not bad for a phone with good specs and a rumored fingerprint reader.

PepsiCo has tried to be innovative with its marketing even in the past. There was even a video game titled Pepsi Man for the Sony PlayStation 1.

The company has confirmed that it was working with an unnamed licensing partner. PepsiCo will be bringing the new phone and some accessories only in China, according to Reuters. The new phone is expected to be unveiled on October 20.

The Pepsi P1 is just waiting to be unveiled on the said date. Will it sell enough units to merit a global launch in the future?
