An interesting switcheroo caused by a malfunctioning software was the highlight of the sizzle reel for the fifth season of CBS' "Person of Interest" which also dropped hints on the return of the show's fan-favorite pairings and the possibility on the impending future of the critically acclaimed show.
The special clip (aired during the Warner Brothers' block during the recent New York Comic Con/NYCC) sees the team struggling with the bugs of The Machine's facial recognition capability as it fails to accurately identify the specific person targeted for verification, TV Line reports.
This is just one of the many things to look forward to in the upcoming episodes as the cast reveals other juicy details during their panel at the NYCC, particularly shedding light on the many and complicated relationships between the characters.
"The relationship between a human and intelligent machine will be something that everybody will have to negotiate someday," said actor Michael Emerson who plays Harold Finch, the quiet and reserved creator of the Machine.
This season will also highlight the budding relationship of Root and Shaw, a pairing that has gained a cult following among the fans of the show.
Asked about her thoughts on playing such character on the show, Amy Acker tells Yibada that she is elated of the fact that she is given characters that can also inspire those who belong in marginalized groups - like the LGBT community.
"It's incredibly important for [the LGBT community] to have role models-to have someone on TV they can empathize and emulate and find strength in," Acker said.
The exciting sizzle reel also opened up rumors that the show's coming to a close, especially with its planned midseason, 13-episode run. Fellow cast member Michael Emerson appeases curious fans by saying that instead of focusing on such, they should look forward to episodes as it will come with a lot of plot twists and see where it goes from there.
"So there's going to be some climaxes, there's going to be some wrapping up, [and] I assume casualties, transformations, endings of all sorts," Emerson tells Entertainment Weekly.
Season 5 of "Person of Interest" is expected to air midseason next year on CBS.
