Critically acclaimed television series "Peaky Blinders" is all set to return for a third season as filming has officially resumed Monday. The show's upcoming run is expected have a bunch of new personalities and exciting story developments joining in the loop.

Lead star Cillian Murphy (who plays Tommy Shelby) has described the upcoming series as "off the charts". "We all think [series three] is going to be the best yet by a long way," Murphy said during an interview with the Radio Times.

Creator Steven Knight has also expressed his excitement over the new things coming in for the show, saying that he can't wait to see where the show is headed with these "interesting" additions.

"Lots of things are familiar, but lots of things are new. It's still a Birmingham story and it always will be. Now it has international consequences. I can't wait to see it myself," Knight tells Deadline.

Among the many new characters to be introduced in Season 3 are two cross-border refugees seeking the squad's help to be portrayed by Dina Korzun and Jan Bijvoet, as well as a figure that will challenge Shelby in a way that he has never had before. That character will be played by renowned actor Paddy Considine.

A lot of character development is to be expected as well in this season as the "Peaky Blinders" will be involved in a web of conspiracy that would send Shelby questioning his purpose and testing his resolve.

"Season 3 will see Tommy pulled into the glamorous and dangerous world of international intrigue in 1920s Britain, putting his entire organization and family at risk, and forcing him to question everything about his own ambitions and desires," The Independent reports.

Last season's major cliffhanger will also be finally put to a close as Shelby's most awaited wedding scene opens the new series. Will the bride be his rekindled love or will a newfound romance come through instead?

"Peaky Blinders" focuses on the exploits of a well-known band of thugs that ruled the streets of England in the early 20th century. Season three drops early 2016 in BBC2 followed by a US release via Netflix.
