Meizu has reportedly delayed the release date of its forthcoming smartphone. The Meizu Pro 5 will now be launched on the 18th of October, instead on the 12th. With octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, it is the most powerful device the company has produced by far.
Pro 5 is the newest handset from Meizu, which was unveiled in China last month. It was originally scheduled to be launched on October 12, but the Chinese consumer electronics company has confirmed that it won't be able to deliver it on time. Instead, Meizu Pro 5 will be out after six days of the scheduled release date.
According to an official statement released by Meizu, the reason behind the delay is about the company's issues with the device's metal Near Field Communication (NFC) back cover. Nevertheless, Meizu has showed how sorry they were by giving out some free stuff for those who have preordered the smartphone already.
A free accident insurance valued at $31 will be given away for all those who preordered. Those who purchased the 32GB variant, they will be given free headsets priced at $20. On the other hand, those who picked up the 64GB version will not only receive a free headset, rather an additional Flyme coupon worth $20. The total cost of the compensation is around $1.5 million, as per reports.
Meizu Pro 5 is powered by octa-core Exynos 7420 along with a Mali T760 GPU for graphics and sports a 5.7-inch screen with 1920 by 1080 pixels resolution Super AMOLED 2.5D curved display. There are two variants of this innovative smartphone - 3GB of RAM with 32GB internal memory and 4GB of RAM with 64GB internal storage. The price depends on the two variants, $439 and $490 respectively.
Camerawise, it boasts a 21-megapixel primary shooter and 5-megapixel front snapper. Meizu Pro 5 also features 4G LTE connectivity and a 3050mAh battery.
On the whole, the marketing strategy and customer service of Meizu is one-of-a-kind. Not just because it has given away freebies due to the delay of the Meizu Pro 5 release, but because the company has proven that they truly value their customers.
