Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA Update Now Obtainable for AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S6 Units; New OS to Include Stagefright Vulnerability Patch and More

After Google unveiled the newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, many smartphone manufacturers and carriers have been working very hard to upgrade their phones into Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as preparation. Samsung and AT&T are two of the smartphone makers and carriers that have made the Lollipop 5.1.1 obtainable to Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge and Galaxy S6 handlers. The Android 5.1.1 will bring enhancements and most importantly it fixes the Stagefright Vulnerability.

According to Android Geeks, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop upgrade has been rolled over-the-air since October 10 and users of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge under AT&T can now upgrade their handsets. The Lollipop update brings better battery life, improves security as the StageFright vulnerability should now be patched, smoother interface and tweaked Material Design UI.

Furthermore, Tech Times said on its report that AT&T has begun rolling out the Android 5.1.1 update for Samsung Galaxy S6 last September 26, 2015 and will bring users who are on Android 5.0.2 up to date. The Lollipop update weighs 660 MB and carries a few improvements to the smart phone, including the arrival of the Samsung Pay feature and user interface tweaks.

IBTimes stated the steps on how to upgrade the above mentioned handsets to Android Lollipop 5.1.1, just in case users of these smartphones don't receive an over-the-air update notification. Handlers of these units can reportedly navigate to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates and then tap on Check for Updates. Before downloading the update, users need to make sure that their handsets have about 60 percent of battery life.

In addition, all the aforementioned Samsung handsets are legible to receive the newly released Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, it is not known when AT&T and other carriers from U.S. will release it to Samsung smartphones.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is expected to reach all AT&T Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, and Galaxy S6 phones, but it might take a while. Thus, the users have to wait patiently until the OTA update happens.
