Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are teaming up once again in 'Joy', and Cooper recently revealed his thoughts about Lawrence's piece regarding equal pay in Hollywood. New reports also suggest that the film might be competing in the Golden Globes under the genre of Drama.
With Sony Pictures' hacked emails released earlier this year, 'Hunger Games' star Jennifer Lawrence voiced out her opinion on the topic of gender inequality with regards to pay in Hollywood. Lawrence released an essay on how she was disappointed in herself that she gave up early during the negotiations and ended up getting considerably less than her male co-actors.
Moreover, during his talk with ET Online, Cooper supported Lawrence on the issue, and revealed that he agrees about the existence of double standard in Hollywood. He also said that he's glad that the issue is now being discussed.
"There's a double standard in the whole world, yeah, for sure. This is just one aspect", Cooper said. "Anytime there's a place where a voice can come out and be outspoken -- something Sienna did, or Jennifer -- that's great. ... I think it is making a difference", he added.
Meanwhile, according to Gold Derby a source has reportedly revealed that 20th Century Fox is pushing the film under the Drama genre. According to the trade, with the crowded roster of films under the drama genre, its chances of bagging the awards such as Best Actress, Best Picture, and Best Actor in the Golden Globes. Aside from that, it could also potentially affect their chance in winning at the Oscars.
According to Variety, Joy will center on a family of four-generations as it tells a real-life tale of rags-to-riches of a woman who fights against obstacles and strives to become the matriarch of a family business dynasty.
Joy is directed and written by David Russell, and reunites him with 'Silver Linings' leads Cooper and Lawrence along with Robert De Niro, Elisabeth Rohm, Edgar Ramirez, and Virginia Madsen. It is expected to hit theaters this Christmas.
