Aquaman is set to arrive in DCEU next year, and Jason Momoa revealed that the character's costume will pay respect to previous works. Furthermore, Momoa added that he has been scanned for the making of collectibles of his character.
With DCEU's promise of darker and grittier take on DC's most iconic superheroes along with director Zack Snyder's photo of as Aquaman, notable with black and white as the most perceivable colors, it was presumed that the forthcoming live-action version of the superhero would be far from the traditional version in the comics.
However, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly, Momoa revealed that his costume will incorporate colors from previous versions of the character. "There might be some bit of orange and green - a bit of respect to prior work", Momoa said.
Moreover, as reported by iSchool Guide, Momoa added that DCEU's Aquaman will also be meaner and angry because of what humans have done to the ocean. "But I think he is meaner now and upset-look at what has been done to our oceans", he said.
According to Screen Rant, it was also confirmed that with Batman v Superman due to hit theaters next year, promotional toys will be released. With Momoa's expected appearance in the film, and his confirmation that he has been scanned for collectibles, a first look at his character through the toys might be out in early January 2016.
Before he stars in his solo film, Aquaman is set to appear in the upcoming Batman v Superman as well as in Suicide Squad next year, and in Justice League Part 1 in 2017. Plot details regarding the character's solo are currently scarce, but more details are expected to be revealed in the coming months. It is set to be directed by James Wan, and will hit theaters on July 27, 2018.
