A well-recognized South Korean electronics company, LG that is famous when it comes to smartphones, TVs and other up-to-date home appliances is now offering its new LG Gram 14Z950 laptop to United States consumers.
Tech times reports that this new LG Gram laptop has a bigger display, yet thinner and lighter compared to its predecessor at only 2.16 pounds. Moreover, with its weight and thinness, it beats up the 2.96 pounds of the13-inch MacBook Air.
The site also noted that the latest LG Gram or LG Gram 14Z950 should not be confused with the LG Ultra PC, which the company has launched last year in CES 2014. The LG Gram has a 14-inch display unlike the Ultra PC that comes in 13-inch screen.
LG employs fancy magnesium alloys to improve the durability of this laptop. In addition, the good news when it comes to the Gram's keyboard is that it offers a very comfortable feeling of typing. The keys are stated large and well-spaced, The Verge wrote.
As for more of its specifications, PC world reports that this LG laptop sports a 2.2GHz Intel Core i5-5200U processor along with 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of solid state storage for its base 13- and 14-inch models. All models feature an HDMI output, two USB 3.0 ports, a Micro-SD card slot as well as a MicroUSB port.
On the other hand, the LG Gram doesn't have USB-C ports, and its battery life that has been advertised is only up to 7.5 hours which is less than the MacBook Air's 9 hours for its 11-inch model and 12 hours for its 13-inch model. It has no backlit keys as LG opted the carbon-lithium and carbon-magnesium for build materials instead of solid aluminum.
When it comes to its software, the new LG Gram works with Windows 10, and will be available through the Microsoft Store, so a user can escape any pre-loaded bloatware. Favourably, LG is offers a "Reader Mode," that cuts down on blue light which can mess with sleep cycles.
For pricing concern, the 13-inch version of LG GRAM costs at around $899 and $999 for its 14-inch variant. On the other hand, there is another price that comes at $1399 for the 14-inch laptop with a 2.4GHz Intel Core i7-5500U processor and 256GB of storage.
