Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has been all over the wire recently, after reports of it mimicking Apple's very own Force Touch Technology has surfaced. Amidst speculations about Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge releasing this October, Samsung Electronics still has not given any disclosure when the unit will see its official release. It is expected, however, that the Galaxy S7 Edge might be launched March or April next year in time for the MWC 2016.
In a recent report gathered by Sean Keach of Trusted Reviews, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will be sporting Snapdragon 820 chip featuring Qualcomm's new Hydra processor, ClearForce pressure display, and, more interestingly, 3D Touch Technology similar to iPhone 6. All of these have yet to be confirmed, though, including pricing of the new product.
3D Touch Technology is based on "Force Touch". What this means is the screen can sense multiple levels of pressure giving users different "tap feedback points" that correspond to specific commands (i.e., closing of apps, exiting to main screen, etc.). User experience is further enhanced using this innovation.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will be featuring almost similar attributes to that of its younger sibling, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge according to Keach. The new Galaxy S7 Edge might also end up being Samsung Electronics' flagship phone instead of having two iterations: Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Keach asserted that the Edge had received wide acclaim around the world; thus, possibly making Samsung Galaxy S7 another Edge-series phone.
One of the many attractions of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is its pressure touch technology. iPhone 6 has 3D Touch and is possible that the Galaxy S7 Edge might have this, as well. Another attractive technical innovation is the implementation of the new USB Type-C socket.
Jovi Figueroa of Inquisitr pointed out that the Type-C socket that Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will have provides faster charging times and data transmission rates. Additionally, this new USB socket type has two identical ends. This means that the Type-C cord that complements this socket type is reversible and either end can be used to charge the phone or to transfer data, Figueroa added.
As to aesthetics, the new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will be more stylish and more aggressive in appearance. Concept photos of the upcoming phone features a more flushed top-and-bottom design while maintaining current Galaxy S6 Edge "overflow" from both sides. The body of the Galaxy S7 Edge, on the other hand, will be donning a full metal chassis bringing sheer elegance and flair to the unit, Figueroa said.
Going back to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge pressure touch technology, Samsung has been working closely with Synaptics to facilitate implementation of 3D Touch Technology, Godfrey Barasa of Yibada reported.
He said that ClearForce, a Synaptics-branded 3D Touch Technology, will provide users with three types of input; namely, tap, press, and deep press. The third input, deep press, according to Barasa, will act like a right click on a normal mouse. There is one caveat, though, for Samsung: ClearForce only works with an S-Pen similar to Samsung Galaxy Note 5 that already incorporates this innovation, Barasa added.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is predicted to be another iteration from Samsung that promises to continue providing consumers with unrivaled innovation and outstanding user experience using Android Marshmallow and ClearForce technology. If Samsung plays their cards right, then they can present Apple a strong challenge in the ballooning smartphone market.
