ABC confirmed the cancellation of the television series Chasing Life after two seasons. Viewers will no longer witness how April Caver as portrayed by Italia Ricci lives life to the fullest.
The Hollywood Reporter shared that the network decided to leave the fate of April after she bravely accepted her destiny to the fans. The heartbreaking finale of Chasing Life Season 2 aired last 28 September 2015 with April determined to enjoy every breath remaining of her life starting with a trip to Italy. The finale episode entitled La Dolce Vita closed with April, best friend Beth (Aisha Dee), and Dominic (Richard Brancatisano) watching the sun sets somewhere in Rome.
E Online believes Chasing Life Season 2 finale storyline can still forward to Season 3. The finale episode received only a total of 486,000 viewers, the show's lowest so far.
According to TV.com, the cancellation however is not only because of the low viewership. ABC was rebranding and targeting the "becomers" audiences.
The news on the cancellation brought fans and other sites to hypothetical Chasing Life Season 3 story arcs. One of the hypothetical angle for Season 3 is the shift of the relationship of April and Dominic from being "in love" to just friends.
Viewers can also see how Beth will handle her pregnancy if Chasing Life Season 3 is possible. April and Beth will be closer as both of them experiences body changes together, the former due to cancer and the latter due to pregnancy. Beth will also decide to give up her baby for adoption.
On Dr. George Carver (Steven weber), possible story arc is imprisonment and jobless as he would lose his license. On the other hand, Natalie (Jessica Meraz) would be on the brighter side as she finds someone right for her. As for the series' protagonist, rumors are she would survive cancer but will die through an accident.
Chasing Life is created by Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowitz, aired in ABC last September 2015.
