Taking its MOBA genre, Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm has drawn the attention of fans as they observe that its current matchmaking system appear to be partial and unfair, as it seems to be randomly matching players regardless of experience and skill level.
A player under the name of "Srey" who happened to be a well-known Hero League player for a period recently addressed a complaint on Reddit with a message that read, "Games are often disgustingly one-sided, with team compositions that don't make any sense and players that are hopelessly outmatched. Whether you are winning or losing, the games are boring, frustrating, and honestly, a waste of time to play."
Such comment which was seemingly detailed, well-written and which was backed up by a rather constructive feedback, was noticed by game developer Blizzard and was well received, Uber Gizmo reported. In a response, Blizzard acknowledged the matchmaking rashness and assured to address the issue and resolve it in such a way that players of similar skill levels could match up amongst themselves.
According to Segment Next, there are instances when sometimes, players feel that the game company ignores them whenever they address a complaint about game issues; nevertheless, if such issue is from a number 1 Hero League player for 2 months straight, "Blizzard do[not] (sic) simply ignore them." When "Srey" addressed the complaint, it seemed that more and more players concur and it seemed that Blizzard had been listening as they have settled such concerns in their official forum.
The developers provided details on matters of fixing bugs to help the matchmaker identify players who are closer in skill, increasing the maximum waiting time to 10 minutes, and some other system improvements. They also disclosed some changes on high skill levels, new user experience, and match adjustments. After addressing such, Blizzard promised to continue to listen to comments and make the changes needed.
Blizzard has now recently detailed the upcoming improvements in its free MOBA Heroes of the Storm, reports Gamespot. Most of these changes were implemented as response to player feedbacks and concerns. Community Manager Trikslyr laid out the improvements himself which included bug fixes to enable a player identify a fellow who is equally-matched in skill level. With this, they are positive that it should now result to "evenly balanced matches." Blizzard is optimistic to improve the game in terms of improved matchmaking at high levels, tweak player experience, and match players on an experiential basis.
Such matchmaking complaint is not the first time Blizzard has faced this kind of issue. The game developers has had released updates which intend to address similar rants a couple of months ago.
