As Google released its newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, many smartphone manufacturers have been very busy bringing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update as a preparation. The Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 were two of the lucky handsets that obtained the upgrade through OTA. However, the Stagefright bug fix was unfortunately not included.

According to Neurogadget, if the users of the Samsung Galaxy S5 live in Canada, then they would be very happy about the news that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update has been released for their handset. Handlers of this device has to keep in mind that the over-the-air update has 629MB in size and it is available for download for the Galaxy S5 devices that are connected to Virgin, Fido, Sasktel, Rogers or Bell.

Furthermore, IBTimes said on its article that AT&T has released the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to its Galaxy Note 4 units. This phablet that was launched at the company's IFA event last year came out of the box running on Android 4.4 KitKat. Tech savvy users assume that the update will improve their phablet's overall performance and the update will also make the device more secure despite AT&T not having given away any changelog for the update.

The Korean tech giant didn't delay rolling out updates to international variants of its phablets but then, it is clarified that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update doesn't have a bug fix for the Stagefright vulnerability. Meanwhile it remains unclear if the AT&T versions of the Samsung phablets will get a fix for the Stagefright malware soon.

The size of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is about 700 MB and it is best to make sure there's enough storage space before beginning the download. It is also advised to make sure the handset is connected to a strong and stable Wi-Fi connection and that the phablet's battery holds a 60 percent charge.

Neurogadget added that if the user wanted to check if the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is already available on their devices, they just have to go to Settings> About Phone> Software Update.

As the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update has finally reached Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4, users of this device are now hoping to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow next. Hopefully, the company will start working on the next update soon.
