The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to be rolled out in many smartphones. HTC is one of the smartphone manufacturers that have promised to make the newest update available to its flagships. HTC One M9 and pioneer phones such as M8, Desire and a lot more are expected to receive the OS upgade.
Latinos Post recently reported that HTC has announced the models of smartphones that will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The HTC One M9, One M9+, M8, E9, E9+, ME, E8, M8 EYE, Butterfly 3, Desire 826, Desire 820, and Desire 816, as well as the mid-grade-to-premium HTC smartphones released in the last two years are all entitled for the Android M update.
In addition, this year and last year's HTC One flagships will be getting their Marshmallow upgrade before the year is over, as it was according to HTC's plans.
As for the newer mid-tier HTC phones, it may take a little longer. And for those with a Desire 820 that are still speculating about the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, HTC declared it will skip that rollout to focus directly on delivering Android 6.0. However the first HTC One, M7, is not lucky enough as it won't receive the Marshmallow update.
Android Geeks further added that the estimated time of arrival of Android Marshmallow will vary with the phone model, region, and carrier. Usually, when the servers push the update to their handset, a message will appear in the notifications panel that will let them know a system update is pending. Users just have to tap on the notification then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Handlers of these devices also have the option to check for the update manually under Settings > About phone > System updates > Check for update. Users should also know that the terminals that run an official Android build are eligible to receive the update over-the-air. Meanwhile, if their HTC device is running a custom ROM or if they have altered their phone's OS in any way, users will have to manually flash the update.
The GottaBeMobile cited the enhanced features that Android Marshmallow will bring to these HTC devices. One of which is the Doze Mode, a new feature that monitors the phone and puts it into a deep sleep when it's not being used. This is expected to extend battery life substantially.
Another os the Now on Tap featurewherein users will simply long press the home button to bring up the Google Now feature and display information based on whatever they're doing at the time.
Android Pay is also included in this update, allowing the device to bring up Android Pay with a simple tap and easily make purchases without the need to open a separate app.
Direct Share is also another development that can share user's photos, news, links, etc. with their favorite contacts easily and quickly. Lastly, simpler volume controls which brings more intuitive way to control ringtone and media volume.
Users of the above mentioned HTC devices are guaranteed with these enhancements which is why the company encourages them to upgrade into Android 6.0 Marshmallow once the update is already available.
