As of last Monday, Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact have now been released. The next few weeks, Android fans and users will be seeing more of the software concept rolling out for other devices.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow, by Google, is the latest operating system version. Many Android users have been eagerly waiting for the heavily rumoured and talked about OS update and the rumoured features that 6.0 will have.
As Marshmallow is getting ready to launch, Sony is one OEM that is always first to act on updates and announce plans for updating selected devices to Android Marshmallow.
"You'll be excited to know that certain quick-fingered Android fans are now currently enjoying the experience of exploring our Android Marshmallow concept on Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact," Sony announced on their official blog last Monday, October 19.
According to Tech Times, this concept Android is still in beta testing and will be released to a selected few, so it may take a while before all Z3 and Z3 compact users will have the privilege to test out the new OS. As follow up, Sony will be taking seriously the collection of feedback from beta testers to further improve the product. The concept programme was initially set for a 10,000 user cap.
However, Phone Arena adds that on the launch date itself, the company also stated that they had received such "fevered interest" from Xperia users that they opened up some extra spaces at the last minute to allow more beta testers to try out the new OS on their Sony smartphones.
The Android 6.0 update will be made available to Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact owners in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and the UK once testing is complete and feedback has been collected and applied.
The Japanese OEM also announced that in the next few weeks, they will be releasing Marshmallow for more of their devices including Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium as well as the Xperia Z4, Z3+, Z3, Z3 Compact and the Z3 Tablet Compact among others.
