Fans are going to be happy knowing that Sony's Santa Monica Studios is reportedly working on the production of the upcoming "God of War 4." Although the question of Kratos coming back in the fourth franchise remains a mystery, reports suggest that the studio is eyeing for a 2016 release.
According to Franchise Herald, "God of War 4" is set to be released exclusively on Sony's PlayStation and, just recently, Sony's Santa Monica Studios teased a possible 2016 release. There was an initial belief that the game will be released this year, though. In addition, Sony reportedly confirmed that the fourth installment to the action-adventure Greek mythology game is already in progress despite being in its infancy.
On the other hand, Crossmap reported that many are speculating the possibility of not including Kratos in "God of War 4." Gamers were reportedly left unanswered at the ending of "God of War 3," thus caused a lot of anticipation from the franchise's fans. In fact, just when Sony's Cory Barlog announced that the studio is working on a new "God of War" franchise, a Twitter user tweeted, "please don't bring Kratos or Greek Mythology." And, to the surprise of everyone, Sony Santa Monica replied and said: "The gods have verified this to be true."
In related news, IGN reported that fans can experience the saga of Kratos again in HD, which is the remastered PlayStation 4 version and is down to $20. So, if they want to see Kratos one last time before it's finally confirmed that the character is not coming back in "God of War 4," they better purchase the HD version of the third installment.
Meanwhile, there has been no official statement yet whether or not Kratos is really coming back to the franchise. Nonetheless, the question now is who will take the iconic Greek character and what will be the storyline of the forthcoming "God of War 4."
While details are kept under the wraps for now, fans can only hope for 2016 to pass by quickly.
