Android 6.0 Marshmallow is confirmed to release on HTC Desire 820 devices as the device now is in the development stage. In HTC's list of official Marshmallow recipients, Desire 820 will receive the upgrade in the first quarter of 2016.
HTC Desire 820 devices are set to receive the official over-the-air release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow early in 2016. According to HTC's official list for Marshmallow's expected time of arrival, Desire 820 will get the update as soon as January.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is currently in development stage for the device wherein the device manufacturer incorporates the Sense user interface with the new build. Testing stages will follow. If successful, the official release will finally come depending on the carrier or location.
Desire 820 meanwhile has to receive yet the Android 5.0 Lollipop with Sense 6.0 before year 2015 comes to an end. Android 5.1 Lollipop on the other hand is labeled to be arranged. This means, the Taiwan tech giant no longer has plans of releasing the Android 5.0.1, 5.0.2 and 5.1.1 software versions of Lollipop. It was not stated in the list however if the device will get the Sense 7.0 user interface.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring in new features and enhancements. Here's a quick list of its notable features:
- Apps Permissions operates by asking users whether they would allow or deny a certain app from launching, a link to be opened, etc.
- Doze is the new battery saver. It works by killing apps not in use or are running in the background. It controls apps and features consuming too much battery.
- Google Now becomes smarter than ever by providing users more information about locations, nearby restos, salons, parking lot, etc., movie reviews, events, and so many more.
- App back and restore allow users to back up data if one wants to reset the device to factory settings and restore data completely.
HTC Desire 820 sports a 5.5-inch display, 13 MP main camera, 16 GB of RAM, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.
