'X-Men: Apocalypse' director Bryan Singer admitted that Michael Fassbender's performance during shooting of a specific film made him cry. It was also speculated that the upcoming film will be Magneto's last appearance and that his rumored child Quicksilver may take his place in the lead.
According to Cinema Blend, director Bryan Singer was all praises for Michael Fassbender's performance while filming the upcoming sequel to the superhero series that he even admitted to shedding a few tears.
He said, "Michael Fassbender did something so wonderful in this movie... We're at the end of the scene, and he asked me not to call cut and when the scene was over, he continued and did something that made me cry in the tent; I've never done that before." Singer revealed though that whatever that scene was, it may not make the cut for the film's final edit.
It was reported that the science-fiction adventure film may be an emotional joyride for waiting audiences. The 50-year old film maker admitted to openly weeping on-set even though he tried to remain his composure during the shoot.
He revealed that he wasn't alone in the crying game saying, "The head of my company grabbed a Kleenex. Simon Kinberg, the writer who has no emotions at all, actually became emotional. It was so beautiful, I've never seen an actor do this for me and [Fassbender] just too the scene to a whole 'nother level."
Another article from IGN reported that Fassbender's adlib-ed scene took Singer by surprise. Singer added that it was unlike any other comic book scene and that it was heartbreaking. He referred to 'X-Men: Apocalypse' as the culmination of all previous films put together.
Fassbender will be reprising his role as Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto - an iconic mutant endowed with the ability to control magnetic fields as well as manipulate steel. He is hinted as one of four horsemen of Apocalypse as shown in the trailer that debuted at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con International. Oscar Isaac will be joining the series as En Sabah Nur a.k.a. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant in the X-Men universe.
It was speculated by Movie Pilot that the upcoming film will be Fassbender's last outing as Magneto. Having established his paternal ties with Quicksilver, Magneto would bow out with the younger mutant eventually taking his place. He may even come off as the new movie's lead character.
'X-Men: Apocalypse' is the ninth installment in the 'X-Men' franchise and intended as the sequel for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'. It is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016. It stars Fassbender as Magneto, Isaac as Apocalypse, Peters as Quicksilver, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey.
