Last September, Alcatel has announced that it is working on a new smartphone that will sport Microsoft's latest operating system; the Windows 10. However, the said smartphone which was revealed to be the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is also rumored to run on Android.
According to a report by Yibada, regardless of the Alcatel's announcement that the phone will run on the Windows 10 mobile platform, there were suggestions that the phone can also run the Google's Android operating system. This may sound unusual, but it is worth noting that this is not the first smartphone to run on two different OS.
Christian Post stated on its article that the mobile subsidiary of China's TCL Communication has come up with a smartphone running different OS way back in January CES tradeshow. Alcatel has reportedly revealed its new PIXI 3 handsets which are compatible with three separate operating systems: Android, Windows, and Firefox.
Now, Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will reportedly be available with an Android and Windows 10 OS version when it debuts in the market through T-Mobile carrier.
It is also worth knowing that there will be a few physical differences between the version that carries Android and the model that sports Windows 10. These are the home button for the Windows logo and the capacitive controls for the Android handset.
The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will have a 5.5-inch frame sporting a 720p displa. The handset, on the other hand, will be engineered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU working hand- in-hand with a 2 GB of RAM. For its memory, it will be packed with a16 GB of internal storage that is expandable and will be powered by 2,500 mAh capacity battery.
As for the device's camera, Phone Arena reported that it will be housing an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front snapper.
As Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will be capable of sporting Android and Windows, it will be a great choice for the smartphone users as they can choose between Google's and Microsoft's operating system. But then, since it is not yet confirmed by Alcatel, customers will still have to wait until the company officially unveils the device soon.
