Anyone who has ever dropped an iPhone and sent it in for repairs, will know that it will costs $100 to have a shattered screen replaced. The new rumored feature of iPhone 7 will make sure that never happens again.
The iPhone 6s, Apple's latest iPhone model, was released only last month, but as early as just one month after, rumors of the next model are already coming out. The latest word that has come out is talks about a stronger display screen.
An article by International Business Times, published on October 22, shared that the new feature will make shattered screens a thing of the past. An Apple Inc. patent application published by the US Patent and Trademark Office, named "Active Screen Protection for Electronic Devices", showcases new mechanisms that can protect the display screen of a mobile device from damage.
The new screen design has four accelerometers and sensors on each of the four corners of the device's screen that will automatically pop out when it senses the device is falling. This will serve as a shock absorber for the smartphone. After the sensor has detected the falling motion has ended, the protectors then retract back into it's container hidden in the corners of the phone's screen.
It is also reported by Realty Today that the next generation of designs will still include two sizes- one with a 4.7 inch screen and one with a 5.5 inch. In addition, Asian supply chains have given word that the new iPhone will switch to a glass-on-glass panel. This design will allow an edge-to-edge display option.
Business Insider also shares of another rumor of a new change the iPhone 7 design with no home button. The release of the iPhone 7 has been anticipated for the fall of next year.
As heavy are the rumors of iPhone 7 are, the success of iPhone 6s is not to be neglected in news today. It has been considered by analysts to be the most successful "S" smartphone so far.
