Hearthstone: Grim Patron Deck Being Nefred by Blizzard; Find out Why

By

Blizzard has now terminated the lifeline of the Grim Patron Deck of the card game, Hearthstone. While the company has now been nerfing the deck, lots of fans have been wondering why the publisher would disallow a card with such strong and powerful abilities. Such points out to its ability, when combined with the Warsong Commander Deck, could provide easy victory in a single move.

Hearthstone was informed by publisher Blizzard to reduce the power of one of its most dominant decks. And such announcement was done only weeks before the World Championship which kicks out at November 6 at Blizzcon. Venture Beat reports that such change is essential to stop any unfair moves and to avoid an opponent's defeat in a single move. Combining the Grim Patron's abilities with the Warsong Commander, the deck could be unstoppable and possibly unwinnable. Such combination even topped The Grand Tournament deck, and has left the game predictable.

The Grim Patron deck has the ability to spawn himself every time he takes a hit. And now, the publishers wants the deck terminated. PC Games N provided a brief explanation on why Hearthstone's biggest villain is being taken down. Released in the Blackrock Mountain adventure mode, this particular deck has to take hits before he could even perform something special. Now if he takes a hit, he spawns two other copies. Now there exists three; two with full health and the host which has one hit point left. By taking further damage, then he dies instantly, leaving his clones ready to multiply. Warsong Commander, on the other hand, has the ability to enable any minion with an attack of three or less to attack instantly by providing them the Charge ability.

With such power, Blizzard not only opted to pull out the Grim Patron, but also to make changes with the Warsong Commander as well. According to US Gamer, instead of its original powers, such card is now given the ability to give additional attack points to minions who already have a Charge. A commenter pointed out that this ability turns the Warsong Commander into Dire Wolf Alpha. This also means that the Warsong cuts its connections with the Grim. This made the Grim Patron no longer competitively viable.

With the Grim Patron spawning itself into minions and the Warsong Commander enabling such to attack instantly, they could create a formidable army. Even the Grand Tournament deck could not shape things up with such combination. Thus, Blizzard resolved this by nerfing the Grim Patron and amending the Warsong Commander.
