Gun Media recently announced the next big thing in the horror video game that stars the famous psychopath in hockey mask, Jason Voorhees. Jason and the camp counselors take Friday the 13th Kickstarter campaign that guarantees more blood, guts and brutal kills.
iDigital Times narrated how the idea came up to take Friday the 13th from movie to video game where one player will take up the role of Jason while the others will be the camp counselors. It is a game of hide and seek all over Camp Crystal Lake in a struggle not to be killed brutally by Jason.
The site added that Friday the 13th begun as Slasher Vol 1: Summer Camp. Slasher has no difference to Friday the 13th but minus the official movie linkup. After the game was revealed, Sean S. Cunningham, the director and producer for the original Friday the 13th movie, convinced Gun Media to collaborate and craft the Friday the 13th game.
Gun media told how the conversation with Cunningham turned as quoted by Game Spot.
"Sean came to us in early 2015, but we quickly discovered these weren't the normal business conversations you would have when you try to secure a license as important as Friday the 13th. It was totally different. It was a conversation built on mutual admiration and respect for what each had created. Sean immediately noticed the passion we had for Friday the 13th, and after several incredible meetings over the next few months, we decided to upgrade our plans for Summer Camp and embrace the Friday the 13th video game license," Gun Media recounted.
The developer said violence, gore, and nudity "aren't just concepts to consider--they're necessities."
Not far from the movie franchise, Friday the 13th: Kickstarter will let the players feel the classic '80's slasher movies by setting as rivals the hapless counselors of Camp Crystal Lake against the relentless murder machine that is Jason Voorhees, Game Rant reported.
The site added that the counselors will not be easy victims for they have varieties of fighting back and can use weapons and the surroundings in attempt to take Jason down.
Friday the 13th: Kickstarter is slated to be launched in October 2016 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
