The young web-slinging hero is up for an adventure in the MCU in his upcoming Spider-Man Reboot and director Jon Watts recently revealed his comic book inspirations for the film. Speculations about Miles Morales' appearance emerged after Watt's intriguing statement.

While many are still having second thoughts on whether the wall-crawling hero should have another big screen iteration, Watts recently assured that he is hard at work in developing the film, and exploring the character's comic book history.

As cited by We Got This Covered, Watts recently revealed his comic book inspirations for the forthcoming feature.  "Ultimate is great. I love Ultimate. We have the freedom to pull from anything, but I really like what [Brian Michael] Bendis did. A lot. That felt like... that was Peter Parker back in high school. And, spending as much time with his high school problems as it did with his superhero problems, which I think is really a lot of fun", Watts said.

Watts also mentioned about delving into other stuff like Archies', and commended the anime-style illustration of Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane which he further described as the soap opera of Peter Parker's life in high school.

Moreover, as reported by Yibada, when asked about his favorite coming-of-age films, Watts mostly pointed on classic 1980s flicks such as the 1989 comedy romance film 'Say Anything', 1989 film 'Can't Buy Me Love', and 'Almost Famous' in 2000.

Meanwhile, Marvel's Kevin Feige revealed previously that the movie will be close to John Hughes type of films such as 'The Breakfast Club' and 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'.

Also, Comic Book noted that new speculations about the Spider-Man Reboot suggest that comic book character Miles Morales could appear in the film after Watts denied to disclose details. "I can't talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much", Watts said.  "We're still writing the story...we haven't finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows."

Although Watts' answer did not reveal anything concrete for the film, his denial to reveal 'too much' could mean that Miles' appearance is possible. Miles Morales was notable in the comics for taking over the role of Spider-Man after Peter Parker was killed off in the Marvel Ultimate Universe.

Watts is set to direct the upcoming Spider-Man Reboot from screenplay by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein. Tom Holland is set to play the titular character, while Marisa Tomei is also on board to play as Aunt May. The film is expected to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
