The Samsung Galaxy S7 may soon be launched by the South Korean tech giant. How will it fair in terms of specs and its features?
Samsung Galaxy S7 Specs
For the display, the new flagship phone could sport a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen found in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. There are rumors that it might finally have a true 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The size of the screen could still increase.
It's no problem for Samsung to launch the new phone with a 4K screen. They have years of experience in building quality Android smartphones.
Samsung's rumored Galaxy S7 is being considered as a direct competitor to the Apple iPhone 6S. It could even feature a screen that will use Synaptics' ClearForce Tech, which is similar to the Cupertino-based tech giant's 3D Touch, according to Expert Reviews. Users could be able to use variable force in touching the S7's screen to achieve different results.
The processor is expected to be the Exynos 7422 chipset. However, the region-based phones could also sport different chips. For instance, the Europe, Korea and China versions of the phone could sport an Exynos 8890 chip.
There are also reports that Samsung might be going back to using Qualcomm's chips. The Samsung Galaxy S7 could use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, according to the International Business Times.
No confirmation has come from Samsung yet, but even the company's Head of Mobile, J.K. Shin said earlier this year that it might be possible soon. There was even an unreleased handset spotted at Weibo that has the MSM8996 CPU or the Snapdragon 820.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date
The rumored flagship phone could be released in January. That's a month earlier than the Galaxy phones usually launch, according to The Australian. If the reports are indeed true, Christmas shoppers may want to wait for the new phone.
Currently, the S6 Edge is priced at around $750 and up. This could put the new flagship phone between the $650 - $800 price range.
