'The Boy' official trailer from STX Entertainment and Lakeshore Entertainment features Lauren Cohan of 'The Walking Dead' fame babysitting a haunted doll. Her character finds herself being tormented by a life-sized porcelain doll who seemingly comes to life after she breaks his rules. Cohan called the film "disturbing".

According to Coming Soon, the official trailer for the upcoming horror-thriller has finally been released by STX Entertainment and Lakeshore Entertainment. The trailer introduced the titular boy as a life-sized porcelain doll left in the care of new nanny Greta, played by Lauren Cohan of 'The Walking Dead' fame.

Greta is a young American woman who finds a nanny job in a large estate in a small England village. She is left to care for a doll that is passed off as a wealthy elderly couple's eight year old son despite her confusion. She is left alone in the big manse with a list of specific instructions on how to care for Brahms while Mr. and Mrs. Heelshire go off for a trip.

According to MTV.com, Cohan is best known for her role as Maggie Greene in the popular zombie-action series 'The Walking Dead'. The American-English actress also has recurring roles in other television series including 'Chuck', 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'Supernatural'. She has her cinematic debut in 2006's 'Casanova' with Heath Ledger and went on to star in a Van Wilder sequel entitled 'Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj'.

Cohan admitted that despite her long-running involvement in a horror series where zombies overrun the world, she can't help but feel unnerved with her new project.

She said, "['The Boy'] goes on this really, really disturbing unnatural journey... It has some things that happen towards the end that are just twisted... it's extremely thrilling and entertaining. I read it very quickly, I put the script down, and I thought 'Can I handle this? After doing a year of Walking Dead, can I handle this?' I couldn't stop thinking about it, and I thought, 'Well, that's my answer, then. I have to just handle it. I have to do it.'"

She added that Brahms the doll is nothing like zombies and that it provokes a deeper, more uncomfortable fear that turns into a likely psychosis.

An article from Deadline stated that since the trailer's release, it gained millions of view across all sorts of platforms - nearing 5 million, in fact. As of writing, the video posted on YouTube by STX Entertainment has reached 4.9 million views.

'The Boy', previously known as 'The Inhabitant', is scheduled to be released on January 22, 2016. It is directed by William Brent Bell and stars Cohan, Rupert Evans, Jim Norton and Diana Hardcastle.
