‘Batman: Bad Blood’ Trailer, Plot: DC unveils sneak peek for 2016 animated movie; New characters Batwoman, Batwing introduced

'Batman: Bad Blood' is an upcoming animated film directed by Jay Olivia. DC recently unveiled the trailer for the latest addition to their animated theatrical series scheduled to be released on 2016. It features a first look at the newest characters Batwoman and Batwing.

According to Comic Book, the exclusive trailer released at the New York Comic Con last October 10, 2015 has made its much-awaited debut online. It shows several thrilling action sequences of familiar returning characters as well as fresh new faces.

The upcoming direct-to-video film will pick up after the events of 'Batman vs. Robin' released on April 2015. According to Screen Rant, Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman goes missing and prompts Dick Grayson a.k.a. Nightwing to assume Batman's identity.

New characters introduced into the DC Universe Animated Original Movies include Batwoman and Batwing. It was reported that 'Batman: Bad Blood' will be the first film to feature the character Batwing outside the original comic books.

In the trailer, the Bat Family battle against an unknown threat while they desperate try to solve Bruce's unfortunate disappearance. It was revealed that Batman goes missing after sacrificing himself to save Batwoman.

According to ToonZone, director Jay Olivia shared his inspiration for 'Batman: Bad Blood'. He said, "...This one was more along the lines of The Raid. So for the action on this, I really wanted to top of what I love from those films. There's also a sequence with Nightwing and Damian action sequence that's also my little love letter to 80's action flicks, where I tried to make it feel like an 80's film... This one is kind of unique in that there's a lot of things going on because you have the Bat-Family." He added that the upcoming film proved to be one of his most complicated films in terms of action choreography.

'Batman: Bad Blood' is an upcoming animated full length feature film to be released sometime in 2016. It stars Jason O'Mara as Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman, Stuart Allan as Damian Wayne a.k.a. Robin, Gaius Charles as Luke Fox a.k.a. Batwing, Yvonne Strahovski as Kate Kane a.k.a. Batwoman, Morena Baccarin as Talia al Ghul, Travis Willingham as Heretic and James Garrett as Alfred Pennyworth. It is a direct-to-video film based on the screenplay by J.M. DeMatteis.
