Apple Music is Coming to Android Users

Apple promised that they would release an Android version of it's music service platform this year, and it seems like it's going to happen.

A german website, Mobile Geeks, posted a handful of leaked screen captures of the Google-run edition of Apple Music. The screenshots show Apple Music features but with the unmistakable top bar of an Android operating system. The images also seem to show what features can be made available including Beats 1 Radio and the built in social network, Apple Music connect.

Dailymail goes on to say that the images noted the design still looking like an Apple product, but run with functions that suit an Android application. One of the notable changes is the replacement of the signature main naivigation of an iOS version with Android's slide out sidebar.

Previously, Apple made the announcement that the Android version of Apple Music will be released by autumn, but the company has not set a specific date as stated by Billboard.

Released in June, Apple Music is the Cupertino-based tech company's attempt to hold on to it's dominance over the music industry that it garnered through the success of iTunes. New players such as Spotify, Tidal, Pandora, Deezer and Spinnr have thrown off iTunes' market share, and Apple is on a quest to get it back.

Just like Spotify, Apple Music charges a monthly fee. One can get a subscription for $9.99 a month for a personal plan, and $14.99 for a family plan (that can be shared by up to six family members). Though Apple Music does offer the first three months for free.

With the release of Apple Music for Android, users will be able to access a full catalog of 30 million songs. The Android version of the iOS application will also even have a special feature not available to native users: the ability to put a cap to offline storage so the app will not take too much of your memory.
