The Apple TV is now available on the company's online store, as Apple launched the new generation at the start of this week. The first orders are to be shipped out later this week, on October 30th.

Prices are set at $149 for the 32 GB model and $199 for the 64 GB model. 9to5 Mac shares that the new fourth-generation Apple TV will initially be released in 80 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia and many more. Only 12 of those 80 will have the Siri remote feature made available.

Gotta Be Mobile says that Apple's free standard shipping option will arrive between November 2nd and November 4th. However, prices vary on the location. Here is a listing of the published prices for non-US locations:

  • Canada: $199/$269
  • UK: £129/£169
  • Euro countries: €179/€229
  • Australia: A$269/A$349
  • Japan: ¥18,400/¥24,800

The new Apple brings about a range of new features that Apple CEO, Tim Cook, says will revolutionize the "linear television experience". Cook went on to call Apple TV 4 the foundation for the future television. Some of the breakthrough features include a full App Store with support for third-party apps and a new touch-based remote that supports Siri-based controls in select countries.

MacRumors lists some improvement on the hardware side that new Apple TV owners will also experience. The fourth generation includes an A8 chip with 2 GB of RAM, supporting up to 1080p video at 60 frames per second. The new remote for the Apple TV includes a glass touchpad as well as an accelerometer and a gyroscope that allow it to serve a game controller. Third-party Bluetooth controllers are also added to the TV's supported features.

Apple is also selling add-ons such as an extra Siri Remote for $79 and handy Remote Loop wrist strap for $12.99 each. For those looking for extra coverage on their devices, two-year AppleCare coverage is also available for $29.
