Jim Carrey is set to star in a crime thriller True Crimes, which is set to begin filming this November. Screenwriter Jeremy Brock revealed his inspiration for the film, while Charlotte Gainsbourg is currently in talks to star alongside Carrey.

Carrey is set to star in the crime film which, as reported by JoBlo, was adapted from David Grann's New Yorker feature in 2008 about a chilling case of what was previously assumed a perfect murder case of an advertising company manager. However, a novel by Krystian Bala was later published which bore prominent resemblance to the case and was eventually proven true which led to his conviction in 2007.

Moreover, Jeremy Brock also revealed in a report by Empire Online that he has invested on working with the film's screenplay since he travelled to Poland in 2008. "I spent the intervening time to find my inspiration for what has become an original screenplay. I haven't worked so long and persistently on one project as I have done on this one. For me, working with a subject in the public domain means doing a great deal of research and gradually working it into my particular version", Brock said.

'The Last King of Scotland' writer also revealed that finding a fitting director for the project also helped in the film's development. "Once I got to work with Alexandros Avranas from the end of last year, the script really took off because he and I have a symbiosis." Brock noted. He also further added that his Anglo-Saxon mentality along with Arana's European style in film making has created a perfect mix for the film.

Carrey is set to star in True Crimes which was previously linked to Christoph Waltz. He is starring alongside Agata Kulesza, Kati Outinen, Zbigniew Zamachowski, and Marton Czokas. Also, as reported by Page Six, Charlotte Gainsbourg could also be included in the cast soon as she is currently in talks to star in the movie.

Avranas is set to direct True Crimes which will be produced by John Cheng, David Gerson, Simon Horsman, Brett Ratner, and Jeffrey Soros. The film is currently slated for a 2016 release date.
