LG G4 users will now be able to flash the official firmware to their phones to experience the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow version.
The South Korean company is already rolling out the update for the device. Now, developers have started to tinker with some of the files to get some ROMs working.
One XDA developer is autoprime, who just uploaded the LG G4 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update stock version. Since it came from XDA, users will need to flash the update themselves.
Usually, official updates are downloaded and installed through the over-the-air (OTA) update on the phone. However, it may take a longer time for the update to reach some models and regions.
For those who would like to try the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version right away, they can download and flash the update. It should be noted that the firmware is only compatible for the LG G4 H815 model, according to Android Authority.
Users can use the TWRP recovery to flash the stock update. The update is split into four different files: the boot, bootloader, modem and system zip files. All files should be downloaded and saved on the phone.
As always, the phone should be charged at least more than 50 percent. Soft-bricking can occur when the phone shuts down during the installation of the files.
In order to install the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the LG G4 H815, the phone must be rebooted into recovery mode. The usual steps of wiping and clearing should follow, according to the International Business Times.
It is recommended to make an android backup of the phone's current ROM first. If ever the installation does fail, the backup can just be restored through the recovery menu or via the ADB commands.
Users who have tried out the LG G4 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update have reported that the UI is almost the same, according to Android Police. There are also some features that may not work yet.
LG G4 users can wait for the official OTA Marshmallow update on their phones. The flashable update is recommended for experienced users only.
