Aaron Hernandez was convicted for the first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd together with fellow suspects Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace. Ortiz recently appealed for the dismissal of his indictment in defense that he was charged without enough evidence. Hernandez also recently appeared on court for an anonymous tipster.

According to CNN, Hernandez has been convicted for the murder of Odin Lloyd that took place on June 17, 2013. He was penalized with life imprisonment for first-degree murder without the possibility of parole last April 15, 2015.

He was also charged for the earlier murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado that took place in Boston's South End on July 16, 2012. In addition, he also convicted for the unlawful possession of a firearm as well as unlawful possession of ammunition.

Hernandez was a former football tight end for the New England Patriots. He exited the Patriots immediately after his arrest for the murder of Lloyd, a semi-professional football team linebacker of the Boston Bandits. Lloyd died of multiple gunshot wounds being shot and killed in an industrial park a mile away from Hernandez' house in North Attleborough.

Previous reports also stated that Lloyd dated the sister of Hernandez's fiancée Shayanna Jenkins. In October 2013, Jenkins pleaded not guilty to perjury charges but prosecutors alleged that she lied to the grand jury and disposed evidence.

Other suspects in the Lloyd case included Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace, both of whom are also convicted of the same charge as Aaron Hernandez. According to the Boston Globe, Ortiz is seeking for the dismissal of his indictment. Ortiz' defense lawyers stated that the grand jury indicted their client despite not being presented with enough evidence to bring about the murder charge.

According to another report by ESPN, the former NFL star appeared in court at the latest on October 23, 2015 for a hearing that raised concerns regarding one of the juror's integrity. Hernandez' lawyer James Sultan received an anonymous call from a woman who cited she knew a juror on the Hernandez case who was possibly "untruthful". The anonymous tipster was examined in prior hearings and prosecutors said that she lied about her job and level of contact with the juror in question.

The 25-year old Aaron Hernandez played football for the University of Florida as a member of the BCS National Championship team. He was then drafted into the New England Patriots in 2010 and played as a football tight end. Throughout his career, he grew a notorious criminal history involving several shooting incidents as well as bar fights.
